MidwayUSA .380acp Backorder OK
I check Midway's site on a daily basis for .380 ammo and for a couple of months now it has been dry except for the occasional Buffalo Bore and seasonal runs of Double Tap custom loads. All other items have been listed as unavailable and no backorder. As of today they are taking backorders on the majority of their .380 line. They are going quick, too. I got my order in and had to mix and match a few brands because I could not get as many boxes of the one I wanted. I only wanted 10 boxes and ended up having to get 3 different brands at 5ea, 4ea and 1ea respectively. Last time they opened up backorders they were all shut down within a week.

Re: MidwayUSA .380acp Backorder OK
Checking again today I see that the items that I could only buy a limited amount of are still marked as available for backorder. Running a quick cart test I discovered that the limitation is apparently an effort at rationing. For example, The Fiocchi FMJ is limited to 4 boxes per backorder. I had incorrectly assumed that the 4 I was limited to yesterday was the final four of that backorder lot.
So, MidwayUSA is rationing on backorders of .380 ammo. Interesting. |
Re: MidwayUSA .380acp Backorder OK
I was in Walmart the other day and snagged three 100 round boxes of 380 WWB at $32 each.
By the way, I think it's that Fiochi ammo that won't work in Ruger LCP's. I saw a utube video on it. Here's the video I was talking about: |

A few questions about the video.
Any body else heard of issues with the Fiocchi 380 ammo being out of spec? Here's a few reviews from Midway, They say the same thing, too long for LCP: http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct...tNumber=250856 Overall Rating: 3.8 out of 5Used this Product?Rate It Charley B of Longview, WADate posted: 10/27/2008What's best? Depends on your gun and your needs. I think Fiocchi is great for mid to full size .380s like PPK, PP, CZ83, Makarov, Beretta Cheetah, Sig, Bersa, etc. However, for mini-guns aka mouse guns a shorter length cartridge is needed (typically) because the smaller guns are designed for that and some ammo is designed for those tiny guns. Corbon and Winchester Silvertips are known for being made for the extra petite .32s and .380s out there. However, for those of us with more traditional size .32s and .380s, Fiocchi is great. In .32 I find it the BEST bar none for my Firestorm (Bersa) .32 and my CZ83 .32. In .380 I find the Fiocchi among the best (CCI Speer Gold Dot being slightly hotter and better performer in gelatin, but Fiocchi another best choice and for way less money). I think in .380 that Fiocchi is for sure best for money, and is among 3 best standard pressure .380 cartridges. The Speer Gold Dot and PMC Gold Star Fire being the other best standard pressure rounds for .380. Yes, Corbon DPX good too, but to expensive. That in .380. In .32 the Fiocchi is the most powerful and best, period. I shot it in my Beretta 84BB and it fed perfectly and was dead on accurate. I love the ballistics because they are hotter than everything except +P loads. The longer tapered hollow point bullet causes the cartridge to jam in the clip. It will hang up every time you put more than one round in the magazine. Was this review helpful?Yes | No14 found it helpful | 0 did not Why didn't he just measure the round and refer to a reloading manual for the correct maximum over all length for the Fiocchi round? Why didn't he use the same magazine for both rounds? Could it be a combination of the ammo and or the magazine? Has he (or anybody else) contacted Fiocchi, if the ammo is really out of spec or contacted Ruger if it is the mags that are the culprit? |
